Greenwich, CT, and London, November 16, 2016 – Strategic Value Partners, LLC and its affiliates (“SVPGlobal”), a leading global investment firm focused on distressed and deep value opportunities, today announced the appointment of Goran Puljic, formerly a Partner at Oak Hill Advisors, and David Weaver, formerly Chairman of the Board and CEO of Jefferies International (“Jefferies”), to its Advisory Council.
Mr. Puljic joins SVPGlobal with 30 years of experience in financial services, primarily in CLOs and structured products. He is a retired Partner of Oak Hill Advisors, where, from 2008 to 2016, he was a Portfolio Manager and Co-head of the Corporate Structured Products Group focusing on investments in CLOs. In these capacities, he managed over $2 billion of CLO investments and was in charge of raising, structuring and placing over a dozen CLOs in both the US and Europe since 2011. From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Puljic was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers Private Equity Group where he founded and ran the Structured Products Investment Group. Prior to this, Mr. Puljic was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs for 9 years, where he held various roles in derivatives and structured products and also worked as Head of Fixed Income for Goldman Sachs Germany. He began his career at Morgan Stanley, Westpac and Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Weaver brings nearly 35 years of financial services experience to SVPGlobal, most recently as Chairman and CEO of Jefferies in London, where he led the firm’s European expansion over a nine year period. In this role he more than tripled the size of the firm’s European business, focusing on areas of governance, risk management, internal management structure and regulatory affairs. Prior to Jefferies, Mr. Weaver was a senior banker at Deutsche Bank, serving as Global Head of Technology Investment Banking, Head of European Client Coverage and Head of European Equity Capital Markets. He began his career at Irving Trust Company and then founded and led a public-sector finance group at Sumitomo Bank in New York.
Mr. Puljic and Mr. Weaver will advise SVPGlobal’s team of over 35 investment professionals globally. They join SVPGlobal’s six other Advisory Council members, four of whom are in Europe, one in the US and one in Japan: Sir David Cooksey, former Chairman of UK Financial Institutions Ltd. (UKFI); Professor Dr. Bernd Fahrholz, former CEO of Dresdner Bank; José Barreiro, former Global Head of Investment Banking at BBVA; Ian Guthrie, former executive at Lloyds and Halifax Bank of Scotland; Flip Huffard, former Senior Managing Director of the Blackstone Group; and Hideto Ozaki, former CEO and Chairman of Toyota Financial Services Corporation.

Their experience and relationships across the European and U.S. financial industries will be of great value to us, in terms of both the origination and execution of investments.”

“I am excited to be joining SVPGlobal,” said Mr. Weaver. “The firm is one of the leading distressed debt investors in the world, and a group I have known and worked with on transactions over several years. I look forward to working with Victor and his team.”
